National Associations of NGOs and individual non-governmental organisations (NGOs) face multiple challenges in their ability to influence public policy and to engage in advocacy work. The prevailing political and legislative environments in some countries create a difficult or even dangerous field for NGOs to work in. As part of its international programme, Independent Sector seeks to provide a meeting ground for NGO professionals from different regions of the world to share information and experiences and discuss jointly a range of challenges, issues and best practices that affect their work in the area of advocacy and public policy.
