How can I register my profile in the RADA databases?

You can register by submitting an e-mail to Make sure you include the necessary information (database you want to be included in, contact information, field of interest and your mission statement), and we will post the relevant information within 5 working days.

How often do you update the on-line databases and the on-line library?

We try to update our on-line databases and on-line library at least once a week. We also invite you to suggest materials and contacts which you think should be posted on the website. We are particularly interested in your best practices and case studies which can be shared with peers across Eurasia.

How can I submit a link to a training material I have developed?

Please submit the following materials to

  • a link to your materials (as well as a copy in PDF, DOC, PPT, etc.)
  • a brief description of the materials in Russian and/or English (executive summary)
  • a summary about the author
Each training materials will be verified and posted on the RADA website within 5 working days.

What is the purpose of the on-line polls?

The on-line instruments are meant to collect information about the needs and opinions of the civil society in Eurasia. It will help the RADA Institute and other organizations design programs and services which are tailored to your specific needs and concerns. What are the steps we need to undertake in order to conduct a capacity assessment?

Your organization will have to make its way through the following path:

Step 1. Identify the purpose of Evaluation: Identify the purpose(s) particular to this assessment, ask the organization members to state WHY the assessment is carried out.
Step 2. Select Team Composition: Select an assessment team to include people who know the organization and who will be in a position to carry out some of the recommendations that result from the assessment. Adopt a participatory approach
Step 3. Identify Information Sources: Identify internal and external information sources and we recommend you get first hand information by scheduling individual interviews, group meetings and data collection sessions to gather information. Plan on meeting with small groups of constituents, members and staff representatives in focus groups (discussion groups), as they are very helpful in identifying valuable information for decision making
Step 4. Conduct Interviews: Conduct interviews, meetings and data collection sessions with your constituencies. It is important that this data collection process is part of a broader work plan, and that the schedule of meetings and consultations is submitted to respondents in advance.
Step 5. Developing Recommendations: The members of the assessment team should be prepared to develop recommendations and advice on how the organization can improve. Capacity assessment are not conducted to PROVE, but to IMPROVE. As mentioned above, the members of the team should be able to implement the recommendations.
Step 6. Transparency: Recommendations should be discussed with organization management and staff in general, board members, partners, and active members of the beneficiary poll.
Step 7. Repeat: capacity assessments should be conducted periodically, and collected data should be compared to baseline assessment / last assessment to determine progress.

What is a strategic framework?

A strategic framework is a document which clearly outlines:

  • the vision for the organizations future (both short and long term)
  • the mission which defines what your organization is doing
  • the core values which shape the organizationís actions(ie. equity, empowerment, sustainability, participation)
  • the specific goals and action plans to guide the organizationís daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly actions.
The framework can be of any format and length. Be creative and empowering within your organization when putting one together.


What is a social enterprise?

A social enterprise is an income generating activity initiated by a Civil Society Organization for the purpose of sustaining its programs.


How can I get involved in the RADA Institute activities?

a.††† You can become a volunteer. RADA Institute is a nonprofit organization drawing most of its resources from volunteer members.† We welcome your involvement and contribution.† Our on-line based presence and management allows us to use your time and contribution either in our office in Kiev or in any other place in the world.† As long as you have access to a computer and internet we can work together.†† Some of the substantive areas in which we now look for help are civil society and organizational development, advocacy and social enterprise development.† You can help us conduct research, implement and evaluate programs and fundraise.† RADA Institute, in its turn, will make sure that you have a rewarding learning experience.†† Moreover, RADA is in the process of creating a new internship program which will provide more formal opportunities for graduate students, scholars and development practitioners to get involved in the activities of the organization and to meet formal requirements for completing degrees, research studies and other initiatives.† For more information contact us via email or phone and look for the relevant announcement on our website.
